Etlworks includes connectors for older Google Universal Analytics and Google Analytics 4.

Etlworks supports extracting data from the Google Analytics Reporting API and User Activity API. When configuring a Google Analytics connector, you must point it to a particular website, as defined by the web property URL or web property View ID for Universal Analytics or property ID for GA 4, and authorize it to use the web property.

Property ID

When configuring a Google Analytics 4 connector, you must specify Property ID.

Property ID is a numeric Google Analytics 4 property identifier. Read more.

Connect to Universal Google Analytics

Web property

A web property is a collection of websites under the same Google Analytics account.

When configuring a Google Analytics connector, you must specify either a web-property URL or a web-property View ID.

Web property View ID and Web property URL are mutually exclusive. 

Web property URL

The URL of the web property is entered in the Google Analytics console, for example, www.etlworks.com.

Web property View ID

A web-property View ID is a unique ID given to a particular website, for example, etlworks.com, under a Google Analytics account.

You can find your web property View ID under Google Analytics Admin.

Step 1. Log in to the Google Analytics console.

Step 2. Select the web property.

Step 3. Click on the property name dropdown list at the top of the screen.

Look for a number on the left, below the property name. This is your web property View ID.

Authentication

To connect to a specific Google service, you are either going to be using the OAuth2 authentication (default) or the authentication with a Google Service Account.  

OAuth2 authentication

To connect to the Google service using OAuth2 protocol, you will need to select OAuth2 as an  Authentication Type and click Sign in with Google.  Read more about OAuth2 authentication with Google Services.

Authentication using Google Service account

To connect to the Google service using the service account, select the service account as an Authentication Type. The service account must be authorized to access the web property.

Open Google Analytics ADMIN in a web browser. Under User Management, add permission for the service account to use email.

• If you use the default service account (recommended), enter etl-framework@api-project-201080624425.iam.gserviceaccount.com as the email address.
• If you use a service account you've created, use the corresponding email address.
