Overview
To help you manage your resources, such as Connections, Formats, Listeners, Flows, Schedules, and Agent you can optionally assign your own metadata to each resource in the form of tags. This article describes tags and shows you how to create them.
Tag Basics
Tags enable you to categorize your Etlworks resources in different ways, for example, by purpose, owner, or environment. Each resource can have multiple tags assigned. This is useful when you have many resources of the same type — you can quickly identify a specific resource based on the tags you've assigned to it. Each tag consists of a key that you define. Using a consistent set of tags makes it easier for you to manage your resources. You can group-by and filter the resources based on the tags you add.
How to Tag a resource
When editing resources, such as a Connection, Format, Listener, Flow or Schedule, select or type in a tag name, and press Enter
.
Adding a Tag that Partially Matches an Existing Tag
When working with tags, you may sometimes want to add a new tag that partially matches an existing one. For example, you might want to add the tag “test” even though “test flows” already exists in your system. In such cases, the system allows you to quickly select or add the desired tag without confusion.
If you’re trying to add a tag that partially matches an existing tag (e.g., you want to add the tag “test” but “test flows” already exists), you can follow this simple process:
Step 1: Begin typing the desired tag in the tag input field.
Step 2: If a partial match occurs (for example, “test” matches “test flows”), the system will suggest the existing tag.
Step 3: To bypass the suggestion and create a new tag, press Ctrl+Enter. This will allow you to add the new tag “test” without selecting the existing “test flows” tag.
How to remove the Tag from a resource
When editing a resource, such as a Connection, Format, Listener, Flow or Schedule, and wish to remove a tag, click X
in front of the tag name.
How to group resources by assigned Tags
When you are in a grid displaying resources, such as Connections, Formats, Listeners, Flows, or Schedules, click Enable Tags View
.
To switch back to the grid view, click the same button again.
How to display Tags only
Click Account
at the top of the screen, click Preferences
, then select Expandable tags
.
Any grid that contains tags will then collapse to the tags only
view.
